Why do you use cluster dextrin and dextrose in your electrolytes?Updated 7 hours ago

Many sugar-free electrolyte drinks rely on Passive Absorption alone. Water and electrolytes like sodium hit the intestinal wall and must wait to trickle through naturally through passive osmosis. In comparison, our advanced formula uses both passive absorption and Active Transport. To elaborate, our emphasis on advanced hydration is rooted in the physiological requirement for 'co-transport". While minerals are the foundation, the addition of specific carbohydrates like Dextrose and Cluster Dextrin is what elevates the product from a simple mineral drink to a high-performance hydration tool:

  • The Science of Absorption: The human body utilises a specific pathway in the small intestine called the SGLT-1 co-transporter.

  • The 'Key' to the 'Lock': This SGLT-1 co-transporter 'pump' requires a precise ratio of glucose (dextrose) to sodium to move water into the bloodstream.

  • Faster Than Water: By including these carbohydrates, the product triggers active transport, which pulls water into your cells significantly faster than a mineral-only drink could through passive osmosis alone.

  • Gentle on Sensitive Systems: We chose Cluster Dextrin specifically because it has a high molecular weight and low osmolarity. This allows it to pass through the stomach rapidly, providing the necessary 'spark' for hydration without the bloating or GI distress often associated with standard refined sugars.

  • Minimal Glycaemic Impact: We understand your concerns regarding refined carbohydrates; however, it is important to note that each serving contains less than 3g of total carbohydrates. Even at our maximum recommendation of three servings per day, the total intake remains physiologically insignificant from a caloric or 'refined sugar' standpoint, serving purely as a catalyst for hydration.

Regarding the ingredients used for palatability, we strictly avoid artificial sweeteners, colours, flavours, or fillers. We rely exclusively on natural flavours and plant-based sweeteners like Stevia and Thaumatin to ensure the product remains functional and enjoyable during intense exertion. These elements are used with extreme restraint, making up less than 8% of the total formula (under <0.5g per serve), ensuring the priority remains on the active electrolytes and hydration catalysts.

We recognise that your standard for 'cleanliness' may favour a more minimalist, raw mineral profile. While our transparency is intended to empower athletes to make informed choices, we understand if this performance-oriented blend does not align with your personal preferences. This formula was engineered specifically for scenarios where absorption speed and neuromuscular support are the absolute priorities.
