How much collagen grams is in your protein bars?Updated 18 hours ago
What type of protein is in True Protein bars?
Our protein bars are formulated with a blend of two complementary protein sources: whey protein and collagen protein, combined at an equal 1:1 ratio.
For our Rich Chocolate bars, that means approximately 8.5g of whey protein and 8.5g of collagen protein per bar — delivering a total of around 17g of protein per serve. This ratio may vary slightly across flavours due to differences in ingredients and formulation.
Why do we use both whey and collagen?
Each protein brings something different to the table, and together they work better than either would alone.
Whey protein is a complete protein, meaning it contains all nine essential amino acids your body can't produce on its own. It's particularly high in leucine — the amino acid most responsible for triggering muscle protein synthesis — making it a well-researched choice for supporting muscle recovery and growth.
Collagen protein is the most abundant structural protein in the human body, found in your joints, tendons, ligaments, skin, and gut lining. Where whey is rich in branched-chain amino acids, collagen is rich in glycine, proline, and hydroxyproline — amino acids that support connective tissue repair and joint health. These are amino acids that aren't well-represented in most everyday diets or standard protein supplements.
By pairing the two, our bars support both muscle recovery and connective tissue health in a single, convenient serve.
Is collagen a complete protein?
Collagen is not considered a complete protein, as it is low in tryptophan. This is why we pair it with whey, which provides the full spectrum of essential amino acids. The combination gives you a more well-rounded amino acid profile than collagen alone — and the addition of collagen provides structural benefits that whey on its own doesn't offer.
Does the protein ratio change between flavours?
The 1:1 whey-to-collagen ratio is our standard formulation across the bar range. However, the exact gram amounts can vary slightly between flavours due to differences in overall ingredient composition. The total protein per serve will be displayed on the nutrition panel on pack and on the individual product page for each flavour.
