Australia Post says my order has been delivered but I can’t find it – what should I do?Updated 17 days ago

Don't Panic, We're On It. Seeing a "Delivered" notification but an empty doorstep is a terrible feeling. But the good news is that in 99% of cases, the package is safe and nearby. Before worrying, please run through this quick checklist.

1. Check the "Safe Drop" Spots Australia Post drivers are trained to hide parcels to prevent theft. Often, they do too good of a job!

  • Look low: Behind pot plants, bins, or garden furniture.

  • Look high: On top of meter boxes or high ledges.

  • Check the perimeter: Sometimes they leave it at a side gate or back door if the front was visible from the street.

2. The "Housemate" Factor It sounds simple, but it happens all the time.

  • Check with family members, housemates, or colleagues (if delivered to work). Someone may have brought it inside for safekeeping and forgotten to tell you.

3. The "Premature Scan" (Wait a few hours) Sometimes, a driver might scan the parcel as "Delivered" as they pull up to your street, or just before they end their shift, but physically drop it off a few hours later (or even the next morning).

  • Our Tip: If it’s late in the day, give it until the next morning. It often turns up!

4. Check the Proof Open the Australia Post App or tracking link. Most deliveries now come with a "Safe Drop Photo". This photo is the fastest way to solve the mystery—it might show a corner of your porch you didn't check!

Still no luck? Here is the plan. If you have checked everywhere and the photo doesn't match your house:

  1. Lodge an enquiry with Australia Post: They can access the driver's GPS location to see exactly where the scan happened.

  2. Contact Us: If Australia Post can't find it, reach out to our Customer Experience team. We won't leave you empty-handed and can often expediate the team at Australia Post for an answer.
